Are there types of studies that aren't suitable for Prolific?

In most cases we are unable to support studies that require collection of personally identifiable information. You can read more about this here: Can I ask participants for their personal information / identifiers?

Please be aware that we may get in touch with you if we have concerns about how you are using the platform, and we reserve the right to ask you to stop data collection if we believe your study to be in breach of our terms.

It is also important to know that we are unable to fully support time sensitive studies on Prolific at this point.

These include, but are not limited to:

  1. Studies that require participation / completion at a particular time of day.
  2. Multi-part and longitudinal studies, where the follow up studies are to be completed at a designated time.
  3. Studies that require participants to be recruited within a certain period of time.

Although most studies run without a glitch, under some circumstances issues may be encountered with a study, preventing the study from reaching completion on time. It is also not possible for us to guarantee that participants will respond to surveys within the desired time window.

All time sensitive studies are therefore run at the researchers' own risk.
